Help our community & the environment this January!

Every time a $2.50 reusable bag is purchased at Big Y, located in Clinton, during the entire month of January, a contribution of $1 will be made to support conservation efforts of the CLCT. Your active participation in this initiative not only promotes sustainability and responsible shopping habits but also significantly aids in the ongoing conservation of our precious local environment and natural resources.

Since 1967

Since its incorporation more than 50 years ago, the Clinton Land Conservation Trust (CLCT) has acquired nearly 880 acres of woodland, wetland and tidal marsh for permanent conservation. With projects ranging from the reintroduction of osprey in the early 1970’s, to protecting and restoring the marshes of the lower Indian River, and supporting environmental programs for young people, CLCT has been actively involved in the protection of the natural environment in Clinton.

Clinton Osprey Camera

Special thanks to the Menunkatuck Audubon Society for allowing us to share this on our website.

The CLCT Osprey camera was made possible by John and Janeen Olsen who have been supporting the Osprey cause for more than 20 years in Clinton! We greatly appreciate all of their efforts. Additionally, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Terry Shaw and his volunteer crew for all of their hard work and expertise. This has been a work in progress, and it is our hope that by having our own camera we can generate interest and help preserve ospreys and their habitats for future generations. These birds are a crucial part of our natural world, so taking steps to protect them is essential in order to ensure their long-term survival.

Because we know there is no “planet B”

The Clinton Land Conservation Trust seeks to connect the citizens of Clinton to come together to protect the environment and all living things on earth—to value life itself.

All volunteer and donor-supported

CLCT offers many opportunities for the community to participate. Our donors and volunteers make everything we do possible.

A View of Peters Woods

Bert and Jinny Godwin devoted a great deal of their time and energy to the Clinton Land Conservation Trust and its 71-acre property known as Peters Memorial Woods. After Bert’s retirement, he and Ginny were inspired to write and illustrate the essays that appear in A View of Peters Woods. We’ve used some of Bert’s original illustrations and their text on this site. If you’d like to read more, you can borrow it from Henry Carter Hull Library in Clinton.
